Far too often we believe the body is the source of all our problems. We are quick to hate the flesh, curse the body, blame our members and yet Jesus came in the body and left with it as well. Its our bodies that help us experience one another and the world as well as our bodies that teach us our limitations. Even when our bodies begin to fail we find that they are capable of giving still.

Haggai arrives in a short window of time beyond the constraints of the Babylon’s stronghold but in the midst of the peoples disappointments in God. “The people” have been freed but on the other side of captivity is a pile of ruins not riches. It is here that the Lord calls us to rebuild our faith, for how can we have been made free only to neglect our freedom?
